You may find alternative options do not provide testing for some STD’s, and more importantly, advanced testing for early diagnosis, and treatment if needed.

Did you know… early diagnosis and treatment can have a significant impact on your overall health. In some cases early treatment can prevent chronic, life long health conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. Free Testing usually equals your Public Health Department.

If cost is the biggest issue, then your local health department may be your best option. Most local health departments have a variety of services, often for free or at a reduced cost. They are in place to service lower income clientele. Sometimes costs for testing at local health departments are based on income, with a sliding scale fee schedule. Waits are often long and hours are limited. Results can often take a while to come back. But if cost is your greatest concern, check with your local health department first to see what options they can provide.

Most public health professionals feel a calling to serve the greater public good. Unfortunately, they are often underfunded, their resources are often limited and their service usually does not compare to paid laboratory testing.

If you have no money for testing, the answer is obvious. But if you can afford testing, you should compare your options.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.

If privacy and convenience are your primary concerns, you may prefer testing at one of our private collection centers. Public health departments are just that, public. About My Health provides only private, state-of-the-art, laboratory based testing at very reasonable rates. Our large volume allows us to keep our costs down for our clients. If you are paying out-of-pocket, the bottom line is that AMH charges less for the same exact testing you might pay as much as $600-700 elsewhere.

We provide only the highest quality lab testing at an affordable cost. We do not use alternative forms of testing, such as lesser quality test kits, which have been proven to have a higher rate of false positives and false negatives. Most importantly, we can get your results to you in a day or two, rather than waiting weeks for test results.
